Independent Shops
Tucked away between the bustling Green Lanes and the very well to do Crouch End, Café Moka hits the perfect balance of North London cool and home from home warmth.
Converted from a run down dry cleaners, the interior of Café Moka is far from the usual greasy spoon. Holes in the exposed brick walls are stuffed with candles, there is an eclectic mix of tables and chairs and out in the small private garden, vegetables grow in flowerpots and flowers grow in an old sewing machine.
The decor makes it feel like you're eating in someone's house, which, in a way, you are. All of the food is made from scratch in the open plan kitchen, so you can see your lunch come together in front of you. The scrabbled eggs on sourdough bread are one of the best I have ever tasted and the perfect hangover cure. Everyday different cakes and pastries are on display; most look too delicious to turn down. The chef/ owner and staff are friendly and helpful and mum and babies are more than welcome (the local mothers club holds a meeting here every week).
Café Moka's opening times are:
Monday-Friday: 7am-6pm
Saturday: 9am-4pm
Sunday: 9:30am-4pm
