Imagine, during a tiring day's shopping on Regent Street, whether it's blisteringly hot or bucketing down with rain, stumbling across a restaurant that pulls you away from the chaos and into its warm, relaxing embrace.

It's an establishment where the staff won't hurry you out the door to make space for others, where the food is hearty and perfectly presented and the drinks are refreshing and diverse. It's even a great place for a first date thanks to the cosy atmosphere.

Rowley's specialises in - or rather, is known for - its entrecote steak. This is a specialist type of steak used by the French, and it comes from the rib area of the beast. Whatever its background, it's down-right delicious. The slab of meat is served on a warming dish so your meal remains a good temperature for the duration of consumption.

Other than steak, the main meals are equally as satisfying with chicken and fish also up for grabs. You will, however, end up forking out rather a lot for lunch or dinner here, especially with starters ranging from £7 to £13. But, if smoked salmon with a pile of chips from the casks of aged whiskey doesn't get you reaching for your cheque book, it's best sticking with the £7 soup with garlic croutons.
