Headed up by hotshot chef Francesco Mazzei, L'Anima is arguably the best Italian restaurant in the entire city, and arguably one of the best outside of Italy itself.
The food is deceptively simple, but features ingredients of the very highest quality and is soulful Southern Italian cooking of the highest order. Located in the city, it's expensive, the room is cavernous and minimalist and come on the wrong night and it can fill up with banker types rapidly - but by God, is the food good. The kitchen has almost no weaknesses - the fettucine with truffles and mushrooms is legendarily good, as are the scallops. Even the olives and bread are amazing.
Save up and come here for a special night - the prices will put most off, but if you're in search of the best, you won't find much better than what's being produced here.
