Pubs
The Punch Tavern does what most of its competitors claim to do only to fall short as soon as you cross the threshold: it's an honest, British boozer. Clad to the teeth in Punch and Judy paraphernalia, truncated by big pristine wall mirrors, and edged by solid marble surfaces Punch Tavern, right in the belly of The City, delivers.
Not only does it serve great beverages with the likes of Stowford Press cider, ice-cold Stella on tap and several delicious real ales, it comes up trumps in the food department too (try the steak & ale pie).Their fish and chips or home-made sandwiches go down a treat as well. But remember where you are; Fleet Street and the surrounding area calls for a slight spending adjustment and, with burgers at nearly £10 a pop, that's all the evidence you need.
It's a great spot to meet up with mates over a pint, though. On match day there's the wall-mounted television to catch all the action; the pub's décor alone is a lengthy talking-point as it is.
