Dans le Noir

Without a glimmer of light to be found, Dans le Noir holds the concept of eating and drinking in complete darkness. Not romantic candlelit darkness, but complete and utter nebulous sort of darkness. With the help of the restaurant’s blind guides and waiters, guests are ushered from the lit bar and private lounge to their table situated in the pitch black restaurant, before experiencing completely new notions of taste and smell. The restaurant aims to change our perceptions through uncertain surroundings and experiences, by suppressing the most dominant sense of sight and awakening others to re-evaluate our perception of taste and smell through mystery and sensational cuisine.

Mixing culinary delights with new sensory experiences, this restaurant dishes up a choice of four menus to choose from, including ‘Chef’s surprise’, a fish and seafood menu, a meat option or a vegetarian menu. The food used within the restaurant is mostly organic, with the menus being created with the help of Chef Olivier Romain, before being teamed with the finest selection of wines to best accompany your food, chosen by blind tasting wine expert Christophe Gamier.

Re-educating their customer’s palates and minds, in the past Dans le Noir has served up the likes of fried blue shark steak on artichokes with sauce vierge and tournedos of crocodile on wild mushroom fricassee. Their current menu is a surprise, however, which can only be revealed to guests after their meal.

Dans le Noir can seat up to 60 guests in the restaurant and provides lockers for belongings. Part of the restaurants final profits are given to charities such as The Blind Foundation.
